Helen Simmons

Helen’s association with the studio dates back to its founding in 2004 when it was known as Club Salamanca’s Pilates Studio. Her love for Pilates inspired her to undertake Reformer Level 1 training with Helen Tardent from Sydney in 2006, a time she vividly recalls with high levels of anxiety as she prepared her exam videos. Helen went on to complete the Reformer Level 1 course and the Floor (Mat) Level 1 course with Allan Menezies from the Pilates Institute of Australasia, including an extra day of challenging Pilates on the Ball. In February 2010, Helen joined Tensegrity Training’s APMA Level 2 course, which provided her with essential skills in using Joseph Pilates’ studio equipment. She later advanced to obtain a Diploma through Tensegrity Training and also holds a Diploma in Remedial Massage. Helen strongly believes in the complementary value of relaxation/remedial massage and Pilates. Since 2011, she has been a member of the teaching staff at Island Health College, a role that is scheduled to conclude in March 2020 upon the graduation of the current students. Helen has been actively involved with several Tensegrity Training students since late 2018, witnessing their growth in skills, confidence, and commitment as they pursue their journey to become Pilates instructors. Beyond her professional commitments, Helen has a deep passion for travel, particularly overseas.
