Sweating Together. The hidden benefits of working out as a couple

If you are in a couple I’m sure you’ve had a conversation at some point in relation to Valentine’s Day, is it something you celebrate or integrate into your relationship? Regardless we think celebrating couples within The Studio HQ is one of our favourite things.  There is something that connects a couple that is different when they work out in the same space in our group fitness classes in Hobart.

There are so many benefits to working out with a partner.  I find the number one for me is the motivation (or even competition) when you work out with a partner.  When someone else is holding you accountable sometimes that extra push will get you through that last rep.

The fabulous quote from Elle Woods in Legally Blonde that; “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy and happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.” We know that this is not only a great quote but true!  Endorphins are the body’s natural opiates which are designed to relieve stress. I can see no better reason to get moving with your partner. 

In our day to day life, we sometimes lose space and quality time with our partner (this does not include sitting watching Netflix together).  If we schedule in a class or exercise time together this is an “excuse” to get that time in uninterrupted whether that is an hour or longer.

I mentioned group fitness classes as a start and I know that sometimes working out can be intimidating particularly if you are in a new relationship.  I assure you that barriers will be broken by this!

If a group environment is not for you why not try out our Hobart Studio? We offer small group sessions so maybe a two on one session could be a good gift for each other. A personal session with one of our Diploma Qualified instructors which is designed for you and your partner can not only be great fun but a good way to understand you and your partner’s body that little bit better.

Though we love The Studio HQ we know that perhaps on this day you may want space for just the two of you.  So why not get out and about?  There are some great day walks within close proximity of the Hobart CBD including; Wineglass Bay, Mount Misery at Huonville, Snug Falls, Knocklofty Reserve. Tastrails.com has some great options if you need inspiration.

Maybe hiking isn’t your passion?  How about going out to a new restaurant and going for a walk afterwards? Hobart is so lovely this time of year and an early evening walk around the waterfront will help settle the stomach and relax into your evening.

Don’t forget that even though Valentines Day can be a bit cliché it is a great reason for us to work out together and create those endorphins together at The Studio HQ.
